CHUA TK
Chua TK graduated LLB (Hons) from NUS in 1985. A student activist, he was amongst the top students in the GCE “O” and “A” exams at Raffles Institution, and twice President of the JCRC at Raffles Hall, a NUS residential college. A PSC scholar, TK went on to read a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University on another government scholarship, and a bachelor’s in economics with honours from the University of London through distance learning. Having worked in the Singapore Government, Royal Dutch Shell and the Asia-Europe Foundation, TK is familiar with sanctions, AML, FTAs, commercial matters, energy issues, employment and personal data protection. His specialty is litigation. A wordsmith and polymathic in his approach, TK loves diverse challenges, thinks out of the box and strives for excellence. He serves with conviction, while mindful of Yeat’s lament, “The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity.” Apart from his native English, TK speaks Chinese, Malay, Thai, Japanese and Korean. His heart is close to social justice, his political philosophy is based on fairness and forgiveness, and his legalism is a blend of positivism, rights, obligations and the morality internal to the law.
